Jill Briles-Hinton has been playing golf for nearly 40 years. She started playing at the age of 12 because she liked spending time with her father. After many lessons, hard work, and tournament play Briles decided to focus on a single sport in college and put her full attention in golf. Briles graduated from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, and turned professional making a check in her first big-time professional event, 1986 US Women’s Open. Subsequently, Briles went on to compete at the 1986 LPGA Qualifying School and qualified on her first attempt.
During her successful career Briles-Hinton’s official earning was just over $550,000.00. In 1989, while competing on tour she began designing and developing successful junior golf clinic workshops that were highly recommended at most tournament sites. Because of her efforts with junior golf, in 1991 she was awarded the inaugural Budget Service Award. Her peers also recognized her efforts by naming her the ninth recipient of the William and Mouse Powell Award in 1994. This award is given to the LPGA member who, in the opinion of her playing peers, by her behavior and deeds best exemplifies the spirit, ideas, and values of the LPGA.
After the birth of her son, in 1998 Briles-Hinton left the tour and became the third head women’s golf coach at the University of Florida were she restored the women’s program and led the Gators to the 2008 SEC Women’s Golf Championship and the 2008 East Regional Women’s Golf Championship. That same season she was named the SEC Women’s Golf Coach of the Year and the East Regional Women’s Golf Coach of the Year.
Additionally, while coaching in 2002, Briles-Hinton was inducted into the Peoria Sports Hall of Fame and in 2006 she earned her Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University.
After her 11 year coaching career at the University of Florida, Briles-Hinton headed to Richmond, Virginia become the Head Women’s Golf Coach for the University of Richmond Spiders.
In 2012, Briles-Hinton joined the staff at Windy Hill Sports Complex to follow her passion of teaching, playing, and growing the game while making a difference in the community.

    Jill works with adult beginners with great enthusiasm and talent, understanding how the adult learns as well as any special physical constraints they may have. Her positive attitude makes golf a “can do” sport for everyone.
